Calendar Reminders and Updates

Mark your calendars for the Chili Cook Off, January 26, 2013.  Our team captain is Becky McKenzie (She is a great cook, so we will probably win!) and Kay will be part of the clean-up crew.  If you are willing to help, please let Becky know.

The church office will be closed on New Year's Day, but re-open on Wednesday, January 2.

Emily mentioned a course through TCU Continuing Ed. that may be interesting.  Click here for information pertaining to REEL Religion.

Our class was able to help a family with ten children with food and presents this Christmas.  Thank you to Bob and Pat Bradley for purchasing the gifts and food and delivering the goods!  Thank you to all class members who contributed to the collection for the family.

Last Sunday, Marion Kiker was in attendance after recovering from hip surgery.  It was good to see him up and around!
James' lessons have continued with thoughts/scripture about the birth of Christ.  We read and discussed the scripture about the Shepherd's visit after the host of angels announced Jesus' birth.  Next week, we will read/discuss the visit from the Wise Men.

James and I wrote a note of thanks that was read in class today.  If you were not there and didn't hear the note, please know how much we appreciate your gifts to us.  As written in the note, we appreciate your donation to Partners for Sacred Places, and we will enjoy the gift certificates to the restaurants.  We look forward to being with you each week, and we are thankful for our church family.

Be sure to read Bishop Lowry's blog. He has included several things pertaining to our class in his recent posts. He has some wonderful thoughts to ponder and learn.

Some prayer concerns include:
Sue's sister who will have surgery this week.
Judy's sister-in-law who will also have surgery this week.

I have included a picture of God's glory (that we talked about in class today) in this week's post.  James' mom is holding her new great-grandson Emmett.  Because of her dementia, she is not real sure who he is, but she knows that she loves him and he is adorable!  I love the way Emmett is looking at her!

May your week be filled with pictures of God's glory in your life!
